Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX, SPD 56.37.02 Version 2.0 DESCRIPTION Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX is an extension of Dataless Manage- ment Services (DMS). When used with DMS, Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX eliminates the need for a local disk. A Single Board Computer (SBC) or workstation can run Digital UNIX without a disk by booting over the network and paging to a server system using the Network File System (NFS). A software license is required for each client user of Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX. HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS System Configuration DMS Server A properly configured Digital UNIX system running Dataless Management Services (DMS) is required. Diskless Client Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX is supported on properly configured Digital UNIX systems and must meet the minimum system configuration as described in the HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS and SUPPORTED HARDWARE sec- tions of the Digital UNIX Operating System Software Product Descrip- tion (SPD 41.61.xx). However, the client does not require disk sup- port. (Note that system dump support does require a local disk.) Digital recommends 64 MB available memory as a minimum. Disk Space Requirements DMS Server The following list provides disk space requirements for loading Disk- less Driver for Digital UNIX software subsets. These requirements ap- ply to the DMS server disks where you load the Diskless Driver for Dig- ital UNIX subsets. o Documentation: 340 KB o Software: 70 KB The total disk space required per diskless client is 410 KB for load- ing Diskless Driver for Digital UNIX software subsets. In addition, each diskless client requires disk space for paging files on an NFS volume. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS DMS Server o Digital UNIX Operating System.
