DIGITAL Software Product Description ___________________________________________________________________ PRODUCT NAME: BASEstar Classic DAS for Modicon Programmable Controllers, Version 3.4 SPD 64.69.00 DESCRIPTION The BASEstar Classic DAS for Modicon Programmable Controllers allows users to access Modicon Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) through BASEstar Device Connect Manager (DCM). Via BASEstar Classic DCM, the user may configure path, type, device and physical point definitions, and also configure for polled and un- solicited data collection. Using the BASEstar Classic DAS for Modicon PLCs, users or applications can perform a variety of device access functions for Modicon devices. Examples of functions supported for these devices include: reading and writing data, uploading and downloading logic programs, and reading the status of a device. The DAS for Modicon PLCs also supports struc- tured data, which allows structures to be imposed upon plant-floor data. The BASEstar Classic DAS for Modicon Programmable Controllers supports the following Modicon devices and networks: o Modicon 984 Family of programmable controllers o Modicon 884[TM] programmable controller o Modicon 584L and 584M[TM] programmable controllers o Modicon 484[TM] programmable controller o Modicon 384[TM] programmable controller o Modicon 184[TM] programmable controller November 1996 o Micro 84[TM] o Modbus[TM] o Modbus Plus[TM] The BASEstar Classic DAS for Modicon Programmable Controllers supports the following device access functions: o An Upload function that transfers the contents of a device's mem- ory to a VMS file o A Download function that transfers the contents of a VMS file to a device's memory o Start and Stop functions that change the operating mode of a pro- grammable controller (Start function is not supported for the 184, 384 and Micro-84 devices) o A Read Data function that allows users and applications to read data from a specific address in device memory o A Write Data function that allows users and applications to write data to a specific address in device memory o A Read Status function that returns the following information: - Processor type - Executive identification - Memory protection - Application memory - Processor state o Receive Unsolicited Data from a device 2 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS Processors Supported The processors supported by the following products will also support the DAS for Modicon Programmable Controllers: o BASEstar Classic Server for OpenVMS VAX V3.4 (development and run- time) o BASEstar Classic Server for OpenVMS Alpha V3.4 (development and run- time) Other Hardware Required: Support for the Modbus Plus protocol on OpenVMS VAX systems requires a Q-bus interface, plus a special hardware card (SQ85) and software driver supplied by Modicon. Support for the Modbus Plus protocol on OpenVMS Alpha systems requires an ISA-bus interface, plus a special hardware card (SA85-002) supplied by Modicon and a special software driver supplied by IPACT. Please contact Modicon Corporation and/or IPACT (Integrated Process Automation & Control Technologies) for the required hardware and soft- ware part numbers for each Interface. Disk Space Requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1) For Digital OpenVMS VAX and Alpha Kits Disk space 1,000 blocks required for installation Disk space 700 blocks required for use (permanent) These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk.
