The EIP (Enterprise Integration Package) and NAS (Network Application
Support) packages were created to help customers who purchase
workstation and server systems obtain many of the layered products they
need in one package.

To this end, several configurations of EIP and NAS packages were
designed. Each package consists of the licenses for a set of software
product components. Customers can then select these components from the
Software Product Library (SPL) that ships quarterly.

The Year 2000 readiness of any EIP or NAS package is entirely dependent
on which versions of the components you have installed on your system.
When the versions of the EIP or NAS components that you have
installed are all Year 2000 ready, then you can consider your
EIP or NAS package to be Year 2000 ready.

If you purchased an EIP or NAS package, follow these steps to determine
the Year 2000 readiness of your package components:

  - Consult the table for the EIP, NAS (VAX), or NAS(Alpha)
package that you purchased to determine which components are licensed in that package.

   - Check your system to see which of the licensed components you have
installed. Also note the latest installed version of each component.

   - Look up each EIP, NAS (VAX), or NAS
(Alpha) component in the tables to determine whether your installed
version is Year 2000 ready. The tables identify the earliest version of
each component to provide Year 2000 support. If you have installed the
listed version or a subsequent version, your component is Year 2000
ready. In a few, footnoted cases, you must install a kit to achieve
  Year 2000 readiness.

  Note
For some products, one or more older versions are also listed as Year
2000 ready. In such cases, Year 2000 readiness should not be assumed
for unlisted, intervening versions. For example, many products are
listed as Year 2000 ready for Versions 5.5-2, 6.2, and 7.1. All
versions later than 7.1 are also Year 2000 ready, but older, unlisted
versions such as 6.0 or 7.0 have not been tested and cannot be assumed
to be Year 2000 ready.

   - If the version of the component you have installed is not Year
2000 ready, check the EIP, NAS (VAX), or NAS
(Alpha) table to determine when a Year 2000 ready version started
shipping on the Software Product Library (SPL) or, in some cases, with
the OpenVMS operating system. Then install that version or a later Year
  2000 ready version.

If you do not subscribe to the Software
Product Library and need a new software version, contact your Compaq
  support representative.
