The Question is:

 
How ts get an directory listing without version numbers
after filename?

The Answer is :

 
  Most (all?) standard OpenVMS tools display the version number.
 
  One can easily create tools that do not, using an application image and
  existing LIB$ or RMS calls, or using a command procedure and existing
