FTP space truncation?

The Question is:

 
When we GET a file from an AS/400 via FTP.  It trunicates the trailing spaces.  Is there anyway to prevent this?

The Answer is :

 
  Please acquire and install the current version and ECO for whatever IP
  package is in use, and -- if that does not resolve the problem -- please
  contact the support organization for the IP package vendor directly.
 
  This includes checking the IP package on the OpenVMS system and the IP
  package on the IBM system, as both are involved here.
