The Question is: We recieved an Alpha 433au Workstation last week. It came with an AZERTY LK97W-AB keyboard mapped at the SRM level and at the Session Manager Level like a QWERTY one. THIS IS DISGRACEFUL ! We tried to modify this. At the SRM prompt, the variable kbd_hardware_type was set to PXAL. We change it to LK411. However this is not sufficient and we do not know how to make this AZERTY keyboard available for all users. The Answer is : The Wizard would suggest ordering the LK46W series keyboard with an OpenVMS system, and avoiding the LK471, LK47W, or LK97W keyboards. In general, the LK97W Windows 95 series keyboard -- the LK97W-AB is the Windows 95 Belgian keyboard -- is rather difficult to use with native OpenVMS applications. The closest approximation of the LK97W keymapping is likely the LK443 or LK444 keymapping within DECwindows.
