The Question is:

 
Is there a way for someone who is using FTP to send a file to an
OPENVMS/ALPHA server to execute a command or DCL file on the server from FTP
using the quote command?

The Answer is :

 
  Only those commands supported by the remote FTP server are permitted.
  Check for any help text for the FTP server on the remote system that
  might be available.
 
  With TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS, there is presently no support for
  remote command, procedure, or image invocation.  As an alternative,
  FTP could be used to transfer the file, and RSH or similar could be
  used to invoke it.
 
  For information on FTP and the required remote command support, please
