TCP/IP (UCX) SMTP and a firewall?

» close window

The Question is:

I have a problem whit UCX v 4.0.

We have firewall and mail machine whit altavista mail for NT.
Behind those two systems we have 7 alpha system whit VMS (6.0-7.1).
We want to offer vms users internet mail whit vms mail program.
On firewall we defined a rule that only AV mail can send mail in Internet
world.

When i send a mail from alpha systems, firewall system block mail becouse
source address are from alpha
machines. I try whit set configuration smtp/options=relay, but I still have
the same problem.

The Answer is :

Configure a gateway system and route SMTP traffic through it, and enable
access for this system via the firewall. Alternatively, enable access
through the firewall from the OpenVMS Alpha systems -- most sites do not
restrict SMTP access from within the protected portion of the network.
