The Question is: We have a number of (older) Microvax 3100s with small system disks (RZ24). These are now reaching capacity. We have a requirement to upgrade these systems for Y2K and support purposes (probably to V6.2). I know that early Microvax 3100s only support 1GB system disk, but cannot find anywhere a specific list of machine models will fall into this category. Obviously, I need to know this before I purchase a whole stack of (unusable) disks! Or can I still get the PROM upgrade? TIA Steve Spires Digital VMS Consultant Jaguar Cars The Answer is : The MicroVAX and VAXstation Systems with the 1.073 GB system disk limit resulting from limitations in the console EPROMs are: o All members of the VAXstation 3100 series. No EPROM upgrade. o MicroVAX 3100 series models 10 and 20. No EPROM upgrade. o MicroVAX 3100 series models 10e and 20e with VMB versions prior to "V6.4". An EPROM upgrade was once (is?) available. (VMB version is displayed via the >>> SHOW VERSION command.) This particular console limitation was lifted with later members of the MicroVAX 3100 models 10e and 20e, and on subsequent VAXstation and MicroVAX systems. (Other limits on the disk capacity may still apply, such as the 8.5 GB limit on releases prior to V6.0...)
