The Question is: Hello, We are running version 5.4.3 of OpenVMS and are using the Session Manager utility to perform screen captures of graphics displayed under DEC Windows. However, the COLOR graphics formats of the screen captures may be in either sixel OR DDIF. Unfortunately, neither of these formats are supported by graphics applications we know of, nor does there seem to be any such application (running on Windows) available, based on a web search. Can you please direct me to some method by which I can capture DEC windows graphic screens into a popular format (e.g., Post SCript, GIF, JPG, Windows BMP, etc.)? I know that XV is one option, but I don't think we can run XV on our version of OpenVMS. If this is not possible, can you recommend a program (preferrably running on windows) which converts from Sixel to a (popular) standard format? If that is not possible, can you please send me information on how I can order the documentation which details the Sixel file format? Thanks, Shant Harutunian The Answer is : Various converters are available when the CDA converter library is present, please see the help text for the CONVERT/DOCUMENT command. (And various versions of DECwindows Motif include CDA converters.) VX (XV310A) is included on the OpenVMS Freeware V3.0 distribution. For information on CDA, see the CDA SPD: http://www.digital.com/info/SP3131/ Also see the DECwindows SPD: http://www.digital.com/info/SP4219/ On a version as far back as V5.4-3, you will have to expect to have problems acquiring packages. OpenVMS VAX V7.1 is the current release.
