RA73 disk drives on antique OpenVMS releases?

The Question is:

 
We are currently using RA70 disk drives with VMS versions 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5
on VAX 8350s.   We are looking on upgrading to RA73 disk drives.  Is there
any issues with these olders versions of VMS not working correctly with the
RA73 disk drives.

The Answer is :

 
  The Wizard would strongly encourage upgrading to more recent versions of
  OpenVMS, as these releases are all antiques.
 
  When these releases where supported, the RA73 was supported on V5.3-1
  and later.  (The older operating system releases will not be able to
  identify the RA73 by name, but the Wizard would expect the disk to
  otherwise function as expected on the release.)
