The Question is: I need to make a 7620 a 7630. The processor will come from a 7610 that I have rolled into corner. What do I need to do besides contact my FE? Are there licensing issues? Sysgen parameter changes? Anything else you can think of? Long live VMS, it's great t o be able to work with a real OS for a change. Thank You The Answer is : Please contact your hardware support organization for assistance with the hardware. Software licensing reference materials are available at: http://www.digital.com/info/software-licensing/ Listings are also available in the License Unit Requirements Table (LURT) included with the OpenVMS installation and upgrade manual. In the case of the two systems in question: ------ License types by code ------- --- OpenVMS --- SIP --- LP --- A B C D E F I VAX 7000-620: 145 na na na 600 1800 1800 VAX 7000-630: 167 na na na 600 2400 2400 AUTOGEN will resolve parameter changes, unless limited by site-specific assignments in MODPARAM.DAT. You may or may not see improvements in overall performance, depending on the current system performance limiting factor(s) -- if the system CPU performance is the system-limiting factor, then the Wizard would expect to see improvements with additional CPUs. If it is not the limiting factor, the Wizard would tend to expect lower (or possibly) no performance improvements with the addition of CPUs.
