The Question is: Can I run VMS within NT, Exactly I need to run a VMS emulator within NT to use VAX COBOL & RMS Files & DCL The Answer is : The Wizard hesitates to even consider running OpenVMS or an "OpenVMS emulator" under Windows NT -- reasonable emulation coverage of either platform on the other would be an extremely large project, and is not available anywhere to the knowledge of the Wizard. Full emulation of either platform is highly unlikely. Partial emulation of certain parts of OpenVMS may be available on Windows NT from a third-party -- parts of Windows NT are certainly available (via Wind/U) on OpenVMS. PCI and EISA-based Alpha systems typically support both OpenVMS and Windows NT operating systems. The Wizard would strongly recommend licensing and loading both, and rebooting the appropriate operating system as required -- you will be able to operate your applications on the appropriate platform. The OpenVMS Wizard is not in a position to recommend products for Windows NT. There are third-party packages that allow access to a DCL environment on Windows NT. There are also ODBC packages available that allow Windows NT applications to access OpenVMS RMS files remotely. A development environment for use in creating OpenVMS applications on Windows NT systems is also (recently) available.
