HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: We have a PrintServer 32 that is being loaded from a AlphaServer 2100 via decnet. I have notcied that the Adobe Postscript driver is 48.3 and that when I print a job via NT to that printer the image size is so much greater than printing that same image to an HP printer. Does the PrintServer 32 have to be loaded from VMS? Or if I decide one day to change OS system to NT will the printer no longer work. Thanks... The Answer is : The phrasing of parts of the question(s) asked here appears ambiguous, and there appear to be at least two questions being asked here. First, the PrintServer 32 software can be loaded from a variety of platforms. The PrintServer 32 can also be accessed for printing from a variety of platforms. The second question is particularly ambiguous -- it is not clear if you are refering to the size of the print file created, or to an image created within the job. In either case, this appears to be a Windows NT question, and outside the purview of the OpenVMS Wizard. There are a variety of factors that can affect the total size of a printer output file, font inclusion being one common case. Poor Postscript translation is another -- various tools are notorious for creating huge Postscript files unnecessarily. For assistance with Postscript printing on Windows NT, please contact a Windows NT Printing Wizard.
