The Question is: I am not sure if this is the correct place, but would appreciate some pointers. We have a customer with Decserver 90TL hubs ( about 15 as far as I know ). They use some of the ports on the hubs for serial printers and others for telnet to host servers. I do not know how much memory is in these hubs or what version of download code t hey have. My question is :- How can I print to these serial printers via lpr/lpd from a NT or AS/400 machine. We use NT, Unix and AS/400 for lpr/lpd printing already, but I am unclear on how to address a particular port on the 90TL server. We have no doc umentation other than the owners manual to go on. Can you help? Thanks The Answer is : Look for the port number for the daemon (lpd or telnet) running in the DECserver, and set up the host queue to route to the specified IP address and port. (There are various discussions around setting up network access to HP printers here in Ask The Wizard, various of these discussions will be related to this situation.) You will need to consult your operating system documentation for further information on how to set up print queues. Alternatively, you can set up OpenVMS TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS (UCX) as an lpd server and serve the print queues -- connected to the OpenVMS host via LAT, telnet, lpr/lpd, etc -- to systems with LPR clients, such as Microsoft Windows NT or IBM AS/400 platforms.
