The Question is: We have set up a VMS cluster, with VMS shadowing on two pairs of disks. The cluster consists of two A/S 800s. Disks are StorageWorks in an external expansion box connected to two servers via a KZPSA in each A/S 800. VMS version is 6.2-1H3. The expansion box is connected via a DWZZB. When we reboot one of the machines in the cluster we frequently get program crashes on the remaining server with 'Page read error'. Is this a know problem? I am aware of the issue of the SCSI bus resets that affect this type of cluster with a shared SCSI bus. However, I thought that VMS was resilient to these resets. The Answer is : The incidence of SCSI bus resets is well-tolerated by OpenVMS. The occurance of page read errors would appear to indicate a hardware problem, either with the host system or with the disk storage hardware. This problem could arise from a host memory or CPU problem to problems out on the disk, and most anywhere in between. Please contact your hardware support center for assistance.
