The Question is: Can one still obtain version 6.4 or later boot rom for a 3100 10e, If so how and at what cost. Thank you The Answer is : Please contact the local Compaq Assisted Services folks, or your hardware support organization -- these following EEPROM part numbers are typically only orderable via Compaq Field Services and via the Compaq Assisted Services program. (For details on the Compaq Assisted Services program, please see the pointer in the OpenVMS FAQ.) EEPROMs for Multi-user MicroVAX 3100 series systems: 23-211E8-00 "Multi-User ROM" (High Word) 23-210E8-00 "Multi-User ROM" (Low Word) 23-214E8-00 "SCSI ROM" EEPROMs for Single-user MicroVAX 3100 series systems: 23-213E8-00 "Server ROM" (High Word) 23-212E8-00 "Server ROM" (Low Word) 23-214E8-00 "SCSI ROM" The OpenVMS Wizard last determined which EEPROM chips were involved on the motherboard based on visual identification of the EEPROMs on the board (many also have labels), and by counting the chip positions available on the motherboard. (Each position where a chip could be located is generally assigned an "E" number.) Alternatively, E25 is near the LANCE Ethernet chip, while E24 is adjacent to E25 and to the Ethernet address ROM. Looking at the connectors of the motherboard, E24 and E25 are located along the left edge of the motherboard in line with the Thick and ThinWire Ethernet connectors, with E24 located further away from the edge of the motherboard with the connectors.
