The Question is: I've hooked a terminal which emulates a VT200 to a DecServer 700-08. When I press return on the keyboard the display prints garbage characters. Current settings of the terminal are 19200 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit. I tried changing them but can't seem to hit the right combination. What are the correct settings? Thanks. The Answer is : The settings depend on the particular communications involved, there are no generally-applicable correct settings. You will need to check the baud rate on the terminal and on the terminal server as a start, as well as the seven vs eight bit characters, as well as the number of stop bits, as well as parity. This could also obviously be a bug in the terminal emulator.
