Replacements for PATHWORKS for Macintosh?

The Question is:

 
I've seen this question sort of asked before,
but with no answer.
 
We are currently running Pathworks for MacIntosh
on several Vaxs & Axpens. With the product being
retired, does Compaq recommend/sell a replacement
product?

The Answer is :

 
  The migration path includes moving the clients to Microsoft platforms,
  moving the clients to OpenVMS or other platforms.  If Macintosh systems
  are required, check for the availability of NFS and similar protocols
  for the clients, and for the availability of a Microsoft-compatible SMB
  client implementation for Macintosh.
