The Question is: I am using a AlphaServer 800 5/333 running OpenVMS V6.2-1H3, with a DE500-BA network adpater and a KZPAA-AA S.E. SCSI Controller which is connected to a tabletop DS-TZ89N-TA 35/70GB DLT tape drive. I found that these devices seem not supported by OpenVMS V6.2-1H3. First of all, the line cannot be activated after running netconfig and startnet. Secondly, the tape device can be seen at the console prompt, >>>sh dev, but it cannot be recognised after booting the OS. I have checked to boot another disk wit h OpenVMS V7.1 and it works. Actually, I have managemed to find a patch for the support of DE500-BA on V6.2 yesterday. However, I could not find any information for solving the problem of the tape drive. I have checked the support options list for AS800 but it is mentioned that TZ8 9 is supported. Could you please provide some suggestion to me? The Answer is : After confirming that your AlphaServer 800 configuration is one of those supported by OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1H3 -- those AlphaServer 800 systems with UltraSCSI require an ECO for (single-host) operation on V6.2-1H3, or an upgrade to V7.1-1H1 or later. That the device is not visible to the console but is visible to OpenVMS is unusual. Check the console firmware version in use. Please contact the Compaq customer support center directly for additional assistance with this problem.
