HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: 1. Customer has PWS433au with IDE cd-rom. I upgrade fw from cdrom ver5.3 Booting from fw cdrom was OK. When I try to boot from CDrom OpenVMS Alpha OS V7.1-2, I get same message like when i boot from lower versions. It is written that V7.1-2 supports booting from IDE cdrom, but it doesn't happen. Please suggest what to do ? 2. On the same PWS433au how can I put 14 or 15'' monitor ? The Answer is : Question 1: Contact the customer support center -- when asking questions of the Wizard, specific error messages are required. The typical bootstrap command for this purpose is: BOOT -FL 0,80000 xxxx, DVA0 where: xxxx is the name of the CD-ROM device. eg: DQB0 Perhaps the console commands can help you identify the devices present? Question 2: using a 14" or 15" monitor. You will need to adjust the resolution of the Powerstorm graphics adapter to suit the monitor. Powerstorm graphics adapters have a hardware switch to select the graphics resolution and frequency. If the selected value is too high for the monitor, the image will not be displayed. The behaviour will depend on the monitor. Factory setting is generally the *highest* available resolution and frequency which is higher than most 14 or 15" monitors are capable of displaying. If you must use a small monitor with these systems, the video selection switch will need to be set to a value suitable for the monitor. The settings and resolutions are as follows: Setting Resolution Frequency 0 1280x1024 72 1 1280x1024 66 2 1280x1024 60 3 1152x900 72 4 1600x1200 65 *PBXGB-CA only 5 1024x768 70 6 1024x768 72 7 1024x864 60 8 1024x768 60 9 800x600 72 A 800x600 60 B 640x480 72 C 640x480 60 D 1280x1024 75 E 1280x1024 60 F 1600x1200 75 *PBXGB-CA only Setting C is standard VGA resolution and should work on any monitor.
