The Question is: I recently purchased and installed DECwindows Motif on a VAXstation 3900. The install went great, and it passes the IVP test. However when I go to change the window colors, I get a Problem report back stating "Your colormap is full. You may not be able to perform all color setup options." What can I do to correct this? Incidentally, the graphics hardware is a 4-plane GPX system. The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard is unaware of a VAXstation 3900 configuration, and will assume this is a MicroVAX 3900 with a VCB02 (QDSS) Q-bus graphics controller installed. A colormap is considered "full" when all of its entries for colors have been allocated by applications. Various DECwindows tools can require enough colors (16 or more) to fill four planes -- the colormap widget will then consume the colors that remain. (The changes can usually be made, but you'll have to log out and back in to see the changes.) You will likely want to upgrade to an eight-plane VCB02 configuration, adding an additional 4-plane board (a second M7168) to the existing two-board (M7169 and M7168) VCB02 configuration.
