The Question is: I HAVE A HOST BASED SHADOWSET DEVICE MADE UP OF 2 4.3 gB DISKS MOUNTED ON A 3-NODE CLUSTER. AFTER FORCING A CRASH DUMP ON ONE NODE ONE OF MY HOST BASED SHADOWSETS WENT INTO A MERGE STATE. MY QUESTION IS CAN I DISMOUNT A SINGLE MEMBER FROM A SHADOW SET W HILE THE SHADOW SET WHILE IT IS IN A MERGE STATE? THANK YOU...JOHN WIENCEK The Answer is : If you want your data to be consistent on each volume of the shadowset, you will want to wait for the merge to complete and dismount the entire shadowset, remoting those volumes you wish to remain online. If you are not concerned about the contents of the volume that is the target of the merge, or if you are otherwise willing to risk inconsistencies across the shadowset volumes, you can dismount individual volumes without dismounting the entire shadowset. If you remove the merging volume and remount it, the volume will be the target of a copy -- dismounting and remounting the volume effectively converts the merge into a copy. -- Use of uppercase, as you are likely aware, is often considered SHOUTING.
