The Question is: LN17+ Blank Page We have an LN17+ps printer. We are printing via a que with LATSYM to the parallel port via a DEC 200 server. and the DEC serial/parallel LN17 module. The LN17 is set to PCL mode. The page formatting is defined in a form, the modules are in PCL 5 format. We can modify the page and fonts etc with no problem, however when the form is sent to the L N17, a blank page is always ejected, there are no printable characters in the form. A hex dump produced by the LN17 indicates that the que manager, or something, is adding a form feed at end of Form escape sequences. How do we eliminate the blank page ??? The Answer is : You have a non-trivial hardware configuration, with many different components involved in the path to the printer. The Wizard will assume that previous discussions (here in Ask the Wizard) of printers and formfeeds -- particularly around the resolution of the spurious formfeeds commonly encountered with HP Printers -- have been considered, and are not relevent. The usual connection for Postscript printers is via the DCPS package, not via LAT. Consider a test with the serial path, rather than via the DECserver 250 (the DECserver 200 does not have a parallel port), to see if this is related to the path rather than the host. Intercepting and interpreting the printer data is also somewhat easier on a serial line, particularly given a "breakout box" or similar tool. Also ensure that the "font tray size" (for PCL) or the "manual tray size" (for Postscript) displayed on the LN17 printer configuration page is set to the same size as the paper actually being used. Please contact the customer support center for assistance. Expect to be asked for the relevent contents of the printer device control library, and for the print queue settings, and for the settings on the LAT host port and the DECserver 250.
