Seeking information on OpenVMS upgrade?

The Question is:

 
I know this may be too general of a question, but I current have an AS1000
running VMS6.2 on a 2.1GB drive. The drive has approx 300,000 blocks free. I
need to upgrade to VMS7.1 and I am wondering if I have enough room to
upgrade. To free up any space is
going to take major work. I am hoping that 7.1 will not take up muc more
room.

  Please read the OpenVMS V7.1 Update and Installation manual, as well
  as the associated new features and release notes documentation.  The
  answer to this question -- and many other questions you may/will have
