The Question is: I have a wan based cluster involving 4 nodes (Alpha 1200) each with dual ethernet adaptors. here are 3 issues which i need to address and appreciate your thoughts on: 1)time it takes for the impersonator ip to switch over between two ethernet ports. If and how this can be changed. 2)behaviour of vms in case an ethernet card or a switch fails. In each case i need to know if vms will switch to the second card/port (whichever the case) and if so what is the delay involved. 3)the maximum delay tolerated by scs traffic accross the two sites both in normal operation and also in the case when a link dies (i understand the it takes the router about 40 seconds to switch to the next atm link) The Answer is : You will want to contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance -- this configuration is verging on a disaster-tolerant cluster configuration, and these are quite feasible but often require tailoring to specific application requirements and available hardware. Specific manuals of interest will include: Guidelines for OpenVMS Cluster Configurations, especially Appendix B OpenVMS Cluster Systems, especially Appendix A, particularly for the description of the RECNXINTERVAL parameter, and Appendices D thru G for additional information.
