The Question is: On an Alpha running OpenVms 6.2 when I try to decompress a patch from Digital's public ftp site, I receive the following error: %ftsv-w-comp_decomperr, fatal decompressor error -dcx-w-trun, data truncated The decompression begins, and then shortly thereafter, fails. This occurs on different patches. Is there an update for the "extractor" program, or does the problem lie elsewhere? Please respond. The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard would assume that the patch has been corrupted during the file transfer. As you indicate you are using the FTP site, please ensure that you are using the binary transfer mode within FTP -- this is generally handled transparently within an FTP transfer performed by a web browser, but must be manually specified on a direct FTP transfer.
