The Question is: After I upgraded my OpenVMS from 6.2 to 7.1 (decnet IV to decnet-plus), I am not able to connect my DECServer900TM, detial as follow: /*************************************/ ORA001 > mc ncp NCP>connect node ds2 %SYSTEM-F-ILLCNTRFUNC, illegal ACP control function NCP>sh node ds2 char Node Volatile Characteristics as of 27-APR-1999 06:44:49 Remote node = 1.410 (DS2) Service circuit = EWA-0 Service password = 0000000000000000 Hardware address = 08-00-2B-B0-43-43 Load file = MOM$LOAD:WWENG2.SYS Dump file = SYS$SYSROOT:[MOM$SYSTEM]DS900DS2.DMP NCP> /*************************************/ However, I can still connect to it in other 6.2 machine in the LAN. On the other hand, the DECServer can download the load file from my 7.1 machine and then works normally. The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard would recommend using LANCP for this purpose. LANCP is available on OpenVMS V6.2 and later -- the LANCP implementation of MOP is separate from both DECnet Phase IV and DECnet-Plus (Phase V), and replaces any need to configure or use MOP within either DECnet. The DECnet-Plus equivilent of NCP CONNECT VIA is SET HOST/MOP. When you moved to DECnet-Plus, you will generally want to use NCL in place of NCP -- the NCP support included with DECnet-Plus is provided for compatibility with procedures expecting DECnet Phase IV, and is not a full implementation of DECnet Phase IV NCP.
