The Question is: I would like to know if there is an easy way to wildcard a flag change in authorize for all users? We are going to roll our VAX computers ahead to do Y2K testing and when I do that all passwords will be expired for the day of testing. I would like to be able to change the pwdlifetime for all users at a time instead of one account at a time. I can let them all be expired and make people change passwords on that day but when I restore the disk drives after testing the old password will be the one they need. I am hoping to avoid some confusion if possible. I searched through your index and hope I didn't miss some thing that was similiar to this. The documentation looks like you have to put in an individual username for the modify command in authorize. Thanks Much Karen Guy The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard STRONGLY recommends using the specified Y2K readiness testing procedures, which include offline testing and performing a full BACKUP prior to performing any Y2K readiness testing procedures and then restoring after the testing. If you must perform testing of the production system, replace or change all passwords or mark all usernames (save for SYSTEM and the core testing usernames) as DISUSER in the copy of the SYSUAF used on the test system. AUTHORIZE commands such as: MODIFY */PWDLIFETIME="120-12:34:56"/NOPWDEXPIRED may be of interest here.
