DECwindows S3 resolution? Macro64?

The Question is:

 
1. We tried to install Macro-64, but it askes for license, However
DEC/Compaq does not sell this license any more. How can we get it working?
 
2. How can we change the Graphics Resolution under OpenVMS? It's S3 based
PCI Graphics, how can we change it to 800x600 Resolution by command?

The Answer is :

 
  1: please see the OpenVMS Freeware for information on Macro64.
 
  2: The specific mechanism depends on the specific controller.
     Software-controlled switching is generally performed in the
     DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM (.TEMPLATE) procedure and/or
     in DECW$DEVICE_CONFIG_GQ.COM.  Some controllers have a hardware
     switch.
 
  Resolutions as low as 800x600 are fairly old, recent requests for this
  have occasionally been from folks accessing web sites listing "best
  viewed in" values refering to PC displays -- these changes are generally
  not required when viewing these sites when using higher resolutions.
