Problems starting DECwindows session manager?

The Question is:

 
After an upgrade to V7.2/Motif 1.2.5, when I log into the workstation I get
just a blank screen.  I set host to the workstation from another and see a
process 'waitforsm_1'.  Apparently the session manager is not starting
properly.  This is the 17th ident
ical workstation to be upgraded with V7.2, none of which have had any
problems.  None of the decwindow logs files have anything I could point to
as the problem.  We are using the old desktop.  Any ideas?

The Answer is :

 
  Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance.
 
  The OpenVMS Wizard will assume that AUTOGEN has been run, and that
  any cruft has been cleaned out of MODPARAMS.DAT.
 
  Information on the specific workstation, graphics controller, error
  log content(s), DECwindows server log (SYS$STARTUP:DECW*.LOG) contents,
