The Question is: Is there a way to change the creation date on a file? We want to do Y2K testing on a particular application, and this will require rolling the date forward for a couple of days. While this is happening, some of the programmers will continue to work on the system and their files will be stamped with a 1/1/2000 date on it. When we are complete with the testing, they are asking that we change the date of any file that they worked on. Is this possible? The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard STRONGLY RECOMMENDS following the documented Y2K testing procedures -- the procedures are documented at the OpenVMS website. Failure to follow the recommended procedures can lead to various (and potentially pernicious) problems -- "future dates" can be scattered throughout various files and various other objects, and can cause problems with various layered products. DFU is available on the OpenVMS Freeware, and can reset file dates.
