Help with PAGRDERR on MOUNT?

» close window

The Question is:

I get the following error when I try to mount a hard drive:

%SYSTEM-F-PAGRDERR ...
Improperly handled condition. Image exit forced.

(register contents)

How can I determine, if the HD failed?
Is there a way to narrow down the problem?

Thanks,

John C

The Answer is :

PAGRDERR are usually hardware problems. The error may be on the target
disk, in host memory, or potentially within one of the system pagefiles.

Please check the error log, and contact your hardware services vendor
or the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance.

PAGRDERR, page read error, reason mask='xx', virtual
            address='location', PC='location', PSL='xxxxxxxx'

  Facility: SYSTEM, System Services

Explanation: The system failed to read a page from disk into memory during
a page fault operation. This message is usually followed by
a display of the condition arguments, registers, and stack at
the time the exception condition occurred. The virtual address
might indicate an address within the page that incurred the
read error, rather than the exact address being referenced at
                the time of the error.

User Action: Check the status of the device and repeat the request. Also
use the DCL command ANALYZE/DISK_STRUCTURE/READ_CHECK to check
for a FORCEDERROR message on the image or in the page file. If
the failure persists, notify your system manager.
