The Question is: printing from vms over declat and nt over tcp/ip causes the vms printer queue to stall The Answer is : There is not enough information included to begin to resolve this question -- please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance resolving this question. LAT and TCP/IP are two completely different protocols, with two entirely different queuing mechanisms -- the OpenVMS queue manager is layered onto print symbionts (most commonly LATSYM for LAT queues, PRTSMB for non-LAT serial queues, and TCP/IP Services symbionts for telnet and lpr/lpd print queues). First, ensure that you have the LATSYM configured as the print symbiont processor for the LAT queues. Then ensure that you have the print symbiont, queue manager, LAT, and TCP/IP ECO kits applied for whatever version(s) you have in use. Both TCP/IP V4.2 and V5.0 have (or will soon have) ECO kits available. Confirm with the printer vendor that you are using the latest version of NIC and printer firmware. If you are using a third-party TCP/IP package (and not TCP/IP Services), please contact the third-party for assistance and information on any similar situations they may already be familiar with. When you contact the Compaq Customer Support Center, expect to be asked for the specific versions of the OpenVMS and IP packages installed, for any error message(s) that arise, for any DMP dump files that might be present, for details of the OpenVMS queue configuration, for the state of the queues when the hang arises, for information on the TCP/IP configuration on the Windows NT system, and likely for other related information.
