The Question is: I am not sure as to the correct place to ask this. Here goes. I have acquired a Digital Vax station monitor model #VRT19-DA made by Sony model # GDM-1960. I would like to use this on a Compaq Presario 5200 running Win98. (This is on my Home PC.) I ha ve an ATI rage Pro video card. Can this be done or is a new card needed? If a new card what weould you recomend. Is this a digital or analogue monitor? I understand that makes a difference. If this is not the place to ask this question please ignore. Thanks cdjk The Answer is : Please see the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for information on using older DIGITAL hardware on PC systems, specifically FAQ section "MISC3. Can I reuse old keyboards, mice and monitors with a PC?". The OpenVMS Wizard is sure this is not the correct place -- this is not an OpenVMS question. The VRT19-DA is 1280 x 1024 x 66 Hz with a pixel frequency of 119 MHz, Northern Hemisphere monitor. Most older DIGITAL video monitors use synch-on-green signaling and 3 BNC connections, not the 5 BNC connection -- the two additional BNC connections provide horizontal and vertical synchronization -- that is prevalent on many PC graphics controllers. These two systems are generally viewed as incompatible, though there are graphics controllers and video adapters that can support synch-on-green signaling.
