The Question is: Recently I saw a MicroVAX for sale locally for $150. This is the information as I received it from the person. ----- I believe the model is 4010. It is about 4 to 5 years old. It comes with a dot matrix printer which has never been used. I don't know much about the specs. Probably 32 to 64 Mgs of RAM, and I believe 500 to 1 Gig of HD. It is in very good condition. --- I have not been able to find any information on this model. please help. Regards, Rajiv The Answer is : If you don't know which model the MicroVAX system is, it is rather difficult for the OpenVMS Wizard to help with any specifics. There were no MicroVAX or VAX or VAXstation or AlphaStation models "4010" sold by DIGITAL (or Compaq). Similarly-named systems might include the VAX 4000 model 10x series, the MicroVAX 3100 model 10, the VAXstation 4000 VLC, VAXstation 4000 model 60, and various VAXstation 4000 model 9x series, as well as various members of the VAX 4000 model 200 and up series. Each has rather different characteristics and requirements. Among the various Alpha series systems, there are DEC 4000 and AlphaServer 4000 series systems, among others. Some older VAX and Alpha system specifications are available at: http://www.digital.com/alphaserver/solutions/ibi/ oldspecs/old_system_specs.html Also see various other sites listed in the OpenVMS FAQ. You will also want to indicate what you intend to use the system for. Hobbyist use? If so, see the Hobbyist OpenVMS licensing information available in the OpenVMS FAQ. Most recent systems will have self-test and console commands available that provide details of the configuration -- this assumes that the system is operational, and that you have access to and can then connect to and enter commands on the system console. Most consoles have HELP and various SHOW commands.
