HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: Hello, How are you ? We have many servers of digital such as VAX 4000/60, 90, 90A with Open VMS (6.1) and many Alpha Stations 2004/100 with digital Unix 4.1. I have faced certain typical problems and I would like to get clarify from your expert advisor. We use these servers for the process control as MMI with POS 30 of ABB Procontrol system. We connect servers to Procontrol system via TS50 module. Which communicates with the server by CPS. Q1. When I started the server (VAX 4000/90) it started and established communication with TS50 (status code is 6, which defines TS50 is OK) and loaded with complete configuration and mimic files and ready for operation (status code of TS50 is 9, which de fines that server is ready for operator interaction). It worked for some time initially, (say 15 minutes) all of sudden it looses communication with TS50 (i.e the status on TS50 is 6). And some times it is observed that TS50 got initiated from '0' to ' 6'. Changed Transceiver (DECXMA) also, once 'STAPBS' is also initiated. Now it is observed that it changed its status from '9' to '6' after 2 hours. (i.e after starting the server again) PBS30.log shows that it has no SYK file in PBS30_DBDATA.DAT, but when opened that specific directory, the same file exists. What can be the reason ? How to solve the problem ? Q2. During the lose of communication with the server, the mimic will freeze and no chance of restarting the server, because remote login (through 'telnet') is not allowing to get into the server ( operating system is not started to login). Is there any procedure to start the server other than switching off and on power supply to the server. Q3. How to start PIA process if 'STAPIA' command does not work? ' STAICO' starts another icon.. Why 'STAPIA' does not work ? Q4. If the screen freezes will CTRL + F2 work, if not so any other commands to release the screen, or no way to restart the computer from 'session manager' ? The Answer is : You will need to contact the software vendor (ABB?) for assistance, these questions do not involve software that the OpenVMS Wizard is familiar with.
