Seeking information on performing a BACKUP?

The Question is:

How do I do a full cluster backup using a TLZ04 4mm drive. What command do
I use to have the system prompt me for additional tapes? When I run the
backup
command, it runs forever without prompting me for any other tapes. Thanks
for
the help!

The Answer is :

Please remember to include the exact command(s) used.

The steps for performing a full BACKUP of application disks and of
system disks are included in the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual,
part of the OpenVMS documentation set. As a start, please see:

http://www.openvms.digital.com:8000/72final/6017/6017pro_043.html#6017backup

The OpenVMS Wizard will assume that the BACKUP is operating as
expected, albiet slowly -- for some definitions of "forever". :-)
You can use CTRL/T to determine how far along BACKUP is in the file
  processing.

You will want to indicate how much disk data is involved in the full
BACKUP operation, and the maximum transfer rate between the source
disk and the target TLZ04 tape drive. (A traditional "slow" Ethernet
link makes for a peak data transfer rate below one megabyte per second.)

Ensure you have good (new) media in the DAT drive, and recognize that
DAT media is rated for 2000 head passes -- this is often far less than
2000 BACKUP operations. Also ensure that the TLZ04 tape head has been
  cleaned recently.
