The Question is: We are running OpenVMS V6.2 1H3. When using the backup command with the /record qualifier, on certain directories, the files are not marked "backed up", i.e. the /record qualifier doesn't seem to stick. For example: BACK/RECORD DKA400:[AXP*...]*.*;* NL:MISC.BCK/SAV -works on some of the subdirectories but not others. Any comments? The Answer is : Apply the current BACKUP ECO kit, then -- if the problem persists after the ECO application -- please contact the support center directly. Depending on what is occuring with the files when the record date "does not stick", this may be expected behaviour -- BACKUP was made rather more conservative at V6.2, to ensure that incremental BACKUP operations would correctly restore all cases. Prior to this change, certain directory operations could preclude an incremental restore. Changes have been made in recent BACKUP ECO kits and BACKUP versions to selectively provide the older BACKUP behaviour when explicitly requested, via the use of the /NOINCREMENTAL qualifier.
