External Authentication? (Netware NDS)

The Question is:

 
I'd like to have the Alpha check the Netware NDS database for user
authentication.  Can you tell me anything about doing this?  As in, has
anyone done it, is there some product out there, etc.?
 
We'd like to achieve the dream "single login" on campus, so users don't have
to login to Novell and the Alpha, and manually try to keep their passwords
synchronized, etc.
 
I searched the FAQs and the entire list of Wizard Q&A, and found not a
single reference to Netware.  Gasp.

The Answer is :

 
  OpenVMS only currently (V7.1 and later) supports external authentication
  in a LAN Manager Environment.  External authentication with other
  environments -- either via a user-accessable programming interface, or
  via a supported package that uses the interface -- is expected to be
  available in the OpenVMS V7.3 release.
