Determining record file position externally?

The Question is:

 
Using the analyse/system DCL command is it possible to see where a user
process is at in relation to file position or application line execution on
RMS files.

The Answer is :

 
  With the _VMS File System Internals_ or _VMS Internals and Data Structures_,
  tools such as SDA or DECamds, and knowledge of the internal (and officially
  undocumented) lock names (see the above books), you can determine the record
  file address (RFA) associated with the lock.  Determining the record from
  the RFA generally requires some examination and experimentation.  In other
  words, this is possible, but not trivial.
