The Question is: I understand that there is no way of opening a remote XDM session with a VMS system. Can I open a remote Xwindows session with a VMS system using the NCD PCXware client software? We run UCX on the Alpha machine and we can use telnet to remotely connect, but it would be much better to able to open a remote Xwindows session. What should I configure on the VMS system, and how should I set up the PCXware software to do this? For SGI Unix we configure PCXware to remotely execute xwshell (an SGI specific command)or /usr/bin/X11/xterm The Answer is : See topic (6723) for information on XDM/XDMCP supported on OpenVMS. Remote displays are supported via SET DISPLAY. rexec or rsh commands can be used to invoke DCL command procedures on the OpenVMS system. The X display must have the security settings enabled in order to permit the incoming X Windows display.
