The Question is: I can use the CDE to set the home session exactly one time. If I attempt to save it again the desktop blows up. The directory [$HOME.dt.sessions.home_old] no longer exists (it was created during the initial setting of the home session). The protections on the directory [$HOME.dt.sessions.home] are S:RWE,O:RWE,G:RE,W:RE. However, if I set the protections to O:RWED, I can set the home session, although subsequent attempts to set the home session will blow up if I don't change the protections first. I re alize that the problem has to be some protection or privilege settings but on which file? Thanks! The Answer is : Please acquire and apply the available ECO kit for whatever version of DECwindows CDE is in use here, as well as the current ECO kit for the Compaq C (DEC C) DECC$SHR run-time library. (A similar-sounding problem -- involving a failure to manipulate HOME.DIR and CURRENT.DIR due to a lack of delete access to the directories -- has been resolved in ALPMOTF03_U4012 and later, for DECwindows Motif V1.2-4.) If this is not V1.2-4, please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for assistance.
