What is the definition of "Compatibility Mode"
CPU usage as displayed by the MOMITOR MODES
command?
 
What would be an example of application which
would generate such CPU usage?

The Answer is :

 
  This information generally references the use of PDP-11
  compatibility mode, a capability only rarely used of late,
  and then only on VAX systems with integrated support for
  compatibility mode operations or with a compatibilty mode
  emulator installed -- compatibility mode permits VAX
  systems to execute the PDP-11 instruction set, and thus
  (with the assistance of an RSX run-time environment
  package) PDP-11/RSX-11 programs.
