The Question is: I have a vax 4000-108 (ka57 cpu)When I look at the system when running VMS the display indicates the system has a KA53 cpu for a 4000-105 how can this be. I am also logging cache erros. The Answer is : What does the system console think the system is? (Many VAX systems quite deliberately and explicitly emulate earlier VAX systems, and are first correctly recognized on rather later OpenVMS VAX releases. This emulation avoids a requirement to update OpenVMS VAX to recognize the VAX platform, and avoids restricting the VAX system to running only with more recent OpenVMS VAX releases.) Reports of cache errors tend to point to a CPU or memory problem. Please contact your hardware service organization for assistance.
