The Question is:

 
How do I change the console port (COM 1) speed on a 600au Personal
Workstation,
so that it always boots at a speed other than 9600.
The hardware manual says 'Consult the operating system documentation'.
$ SET TERM/PERM/SPEED=19200 OPA0: has no temporary or permanent effect.

The Answer is :

 
  Most Alpha console lines operate only at 9600 baud.
