The Question is: We are currently using Open VMS 6.2 and UCX 4.1. We intend to upgrade to Open VMS 7.2-1 and UCX 5.0a (or later) ASAP. We have user-defined services written in FORTRAN created and enabled using the $UCX SET SERVICE ... $UCX ENABLE SERVICE ... commands sequences. These services work just fine, but... 1) Is there an API to enable, create services other than the command line $UCX / $TCPIP commands? 2) Is there a Compaq approved method of determining the $UCX / $TCPIP version other than parsing a $UCX SHOW VERSION or $TCPIP SHOW VERSION command? 3) Is there a way to enable a service on system startup other than using the $UCX SET SERVICE commands? Something like how the regular telnet, rsh services are enabled? The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard is not aware of a documented management API for this purpose within the TCP/IP Services package.
