The Question is: Where can I find information about how to understand the report generated by a ANALYZE/ERR command (after a system crash for example) ? The Answer is : This typically requires some familiarity with each peripheral device involved -- the errors and the information reported by each device involved can be (and often are often) unique to the particular device. If you wish to perform this level of service on your systems, please contact your hardware service organization or the folks at the Compaq Assisted Services (see the FAQ) for details and the requisite low-level hardware and hardware service documentation. (Compaq Assisted Services is a source for spare parts and service documentation and diagnostics for those customers that wish to directly maintain their systems and hardware.) Use of the Compaq Analyze or DECevent tools is recommended over the ANALYZE/ERROR tool, as these tools provide the most current available bit-to-text translation. (These tools also replace the ANALYZE/ERROR mechanism on later OpenVMS releases.)
