Downgrading DECnet-Plus to DECnet Phase IV?

The Question is:

 
I want to downgrade Decnet Plus to Decnet Phase IV.  But I find conflicting
 instructions.  The FAQ says I need to boot off of the 7.1 CD, define a couple
 of PCSI logicals, and do a PRODUCT RECONFIGURE to remote Plus first.  Then
 install IV from the 7.1 CD
 
 
The 7.1 CD documentation says that I only need to do a product remove of Plus,
 and then install IV.
 
Some people that have done it a long time ago, seem to not remember removing
 Plus first, only installing IV, and changing the startup_v5.com to use
 startnet again.
 
Whats the right way?
