The Question is: We are looking for a way to strip the personal name from users e-mail when they send to an address outside our VMSCluster machines. We are using Multinet IP services. Thier helpline said that they can not do anything as it is considered to be a MUA settin g. Is there way we can selectively do this? Or do we have to resort to setting a policy? The Answer is : There is no supported interface nor supported mechanism for conditionally removing the personal name from OpenVMS mail, nor from TCP/IP Services SMTP. This would have to be implemented by site policy, or by modifications to the OpenVMS mail utility or to the local SMTP transport, or some similar approach. As for capabilities and mechanisms available within MultiNet SMTP, please contact MultiNet support.
